At St Arnaud Secondary College we are engaged in trying to break down barriers that prevent students with different learning or behavioural needs from accessing education on the same basis as their peers and maximise inclusion to the best of our ability.
Assistive technology (AT) is any device, system or design used by individuals to perform tasks that might otherwise be difficult or impossible. Although it is hard to keep up to date with all the new AT coming out we try our best to obtain equipment to help our students as best we can.
Current assistive technology is located in the library and can be hired out to individual students for use in class.
Low level – High level AT’s available include:
ClickView which can be accessed through Compass (to view visual representation of Novels being studied)
C-Pen
Kindle
Noise Cancelling headphone
Headphones
Reading level systems in the library
Graphic Novels
Assistance with the utilisation of systems inbuilt into Microsoft office.
We encourage parents to communicate with the school about assistive technology and how it can be incorporated into the students learning.
