Curriculum Overview


The curriculum of the St. Arnaud Secondary College is designed so that all students have access to educational experiences that are challenging, purposeful, comprehensive and inclusive, that result in all students improving their educational achievements and reaching their full potential.

 

The aim of the St. Arnaud Secondary College is to provide the physical facilities, teaching resources, expertise and social climate to enable the students of the school to have the opportunity to achieve their highest potential in these broad areas:

  • Physical                     
  • Aesthetic
  • Cultural

Yearly outline:

 

Year 7 Studies: English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, French, Physical Education, Art, Technology, Food.

 

Year 8 Studies: English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, French, Literacy, Physical Education, Art, Technology Food.

.

Year 9 Studies: English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, Physical Education, Art, NCTTC. Electives: French, Literacy

During year 9, students attend the North Central Trade Training Centre (NCTTC) once a week to undertake technology and trade subjects at a specialist facility, including Woodwork, Metal Work, Automotive, Agricultural Studies, Textiles, Computer Aided Design and F1 Design.

 

Engage Program: a specialist program is provided for students suited to hands-on, real world learning at the years 7-9. Selection for this program is limited and conducted on an individual basis.

 

Year 10 Studies: English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, Physical Education. Electives include: Industry & Enterprise, Art, Visual Communication, Food, Wood, French, Literature.

 

Year 11 & 12: Students choose either a VCE or VCAL pathway.
